The Teaching Associate will be assigned two laboratory course sections each semester. For CHEM 2090, there are three fifty minute lectures per week and 3-hour long laboratory sections of approximately 22 undergraduate students. For CHEM 2070/2080, there are two fifty minute lectures per week, small group problem solving sessions, and 3-hour long laboratory sections of approximately 22 undergraduate students. CHEM 2090 is aimed primarily at students within the College of Engineering. CHEM 2070 is the prerequisite for CHEM 2080. Main topics include chemical transformations and equations, periodic trends of the elements, electronic structure of atoms, chemical bonding, and the collective behavior of molecules. All three courses cover General Chemistry and focus on fundamental chemical principles, with considerable attention given to the quantitative aspects and techniques important for further work in chemistry.

The Teaching Associate supports the Faculty and Lecturers in the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology in teaching CHEM 2070, 20, and the laboratory sections associated with those classes, during both the Fall and Spring semesters.
